Neuroacanthocytosis refers to a group of rare diseases that share the features of central nervous system degeneration, neuromuscular manifestations, and acanthocytosis on a peripheral blood smear. An acanthocyte is a spiculated form of a red blood cell (RBC) (picture 1).
