Online and face-to-face workshops are a new addition to the support offered to Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) students under the restrictions and challenges of COVID-19. Learning Services Librarian Claire Stalker-Booth is encouraging students to take part and learn new skills.

"What better place than the library to ask questions and learn new study skills. We are open into the evening so that we can offer sessions at a variety of times across the day and early evening," Claire said.

CIT is offering these workshops to help students learn and improve skills that are needed for their studies. "Workshops on offer this semester include, taking better notes; writing reports and essays; time management; both APA and Harvard referencing; how to effectively use physical and digital library resources; job hunting and interview skills. We also offer the Ask a Librarian Q&A session," Claire said.

Claire explained that "The libraries team were very aware of the need to find a way to reach students in the digital environment, even now that classes have resumed. CIT libraries certainly saw this as an opportunity to look at what we could offer."

CIT Libraries has an updated events calendar and online booking system for all the workshops. For more information, students can contact Bruce or Reid Libraries.

Students who can't attend a workshop at one of its advertised times, the option to Make an Appointment with a librarian to get information on a variety of topics is also available.
