Ireland, like many countries went into lockdown to curtail the current health situation, with many finding the isolation difficult.
People are working remotely or being put on temporary leave and can’t go more than 2km from their homes.
This sparked desperation among the masses as they bid to fill their days, but John Mullane has no such issue.
Waterford legend Mullane told the ‘A Hurler’s Life’ podcast that religion helps him cope during these difficult times.
He said: ‘People might say, “Jeez, I wouldn’t have thought he was like that”. At every opportunity I get, I’ve taken church back into my life, going back to church.
‘You might ask me, “Well, what do you believe in?” I believe there’s a God and within the last 10 days, 14 days I’ve been doing an awful lot of praying’, he said.
The five-time All-Star explained how religion wasn’t the only thing that had a dramatic effect on his life.
‘There were often times where I was in very, very bad places in my life outside of hurling. But hurling was always there to row me back in and get me back on the right path.
‘Thankfully, I’ve now gone down the right path and I’ve been afforded some fantastic opportunities through hurling and I’m forever grateful for it.’
