The GX100 engine uses a unique Honda side-cam OHC layout to offer the high reliability, high durability, and light weight demanded by many types of work equipment, while also ensuring clean-running performance that clears the world's strictest emissions regulations, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Phase 2 regulations. It also comes equipped with Honda's unique built-in timing belt and a large-capacity muffler that combine to reduce engine noise to ultra-low levels for more user-friendly operation.

The GX100 also features a vertical cylinder and an OHC layout with balanced left-right positioning of auxiliary components to minimize center-of-gravity offset, making it an ideal powerplant for earth rammers and other types of equipment requiring a stable operating position.

GX100 Primary Features

Quiet Operation

  • The GX100s OHC engine format, built-in timing belt, and large-capacity muffler combine to reduce operating noise to ultra-low levels for better user-friendliness.

Superior Fuel Economy & Environmental Performance

  • A compact combustion chamber with high thermal efficiency ensures fuel economy that meets the world's highest standards. Further, the GX100 runs cleanly enough to meet the world's strictest emissions regulations, including the Phase 2 regulations established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Tier 2 regulations established by the California Air Resources Board (CARB).

Excellent Durability & Reliability

  • A special cast iron cylinder sleeve, ball bearing shaft mounts on both sides, and other Honda engine technologies ensure that the GX100 offers the kind of high durability and reliability typically demanded by heavy-duty work applications.
