Since 1840, this quintessential Dublin pub has dispensed renowned hospitality and traditions of excellence to generations of Dubliners and visitors alike. Today, The Temple Bar is famous across the globe for its traditional ambiance, unrivaled vitality and craic, and for our celebrated charm and conviviality. Additionally, we have become the established home of traditional Irish music in Dublin; the pub with the largest collection of whiskies in Ireland and the pub with the largest collection of pub sandwiches anywhere in the world. We also zealously guard our international reputation of fresh from the sea Oysters and Guinness, delivered straight to The Temple Bar each day. But what we do best is ensuring that your visit to The Temple Bar is the best pub experience you will ever remember.

The most well known bar in Dublin, and from my understanding, one of the oldest, if not THE oldest, it is a fun atmosphere that is also LOUD, expect to shout here over the lively music and the patrons all having a pint. That being said, the people are very cordial (for the most part), and everything tastes fresh and delicious. The bathrooms are also quite clean, but be careful walking to them as the steps are sticky and tight. Perhaps that is for the best with all the drinking you will do here.
No trip to Dublin is complete without stopping here, you must do that.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jim B.San Francisco, CA2368Apr 17, 2024
Man about 20 years ago this place at least seemed kinda authentic. 10 euros for a pint, which is more than what I paid in NYC tourist trap places near Times Square on St Pattys Day! You can go a few tram stops away and find authentic pubs for 6 euros, with authentic Irish people. Since Yelp is an American based platform, if you see NYPD/SFPD San Diego Sheriff patches, etc, realize you are likely in a tourist trap.
The bartender was a nice guy and seemed almost ashamed of the price gouging. Might as well call it Temple Bar by Disney!"Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 2, 2024
Stopped into the infamous Temple Bar at 10:30 am (opening) on our first day in Dublin. There was already live music and a vast selection of cozy places to sit and have a pint. The Irish coffee was excellent and the service exceptional; both bartenders were friendly and conversational, and both offered us great recommendations for beers and whiskeys and places to visit during our time in Dublin.
We later passed by Temple Bar when it was busier and even crowded later in the day, it would still be worth the visit!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Matt T.Chicago, IL310May 1, 2024
I think if you're in Dublin and checking out the bars in central city, this is a must stop place. It's very likely what you're looking for, with great trad music and ample space. Bar hop, of course, but this place should be a prime stop.

Don't you love when people tell you not to go to a place because it's "too touristy?" Well, guess what?! We ARE tourists so of course we want to go to THE tourist area. Anyway, make sure you hit up the Temple Bar at least once. This place is great with live music, a fun crowd and expensive drinks. I could deal without paying €11 a beer but hey, no cover so I'll take it. The band was fab and everyone was so friendly and this was a Sunday night. We loved it here, "touristy" and all.

A fine pub but if you're looking for authenticity this may not be the best option. I was in the area and stopped in for a drink and a snack.
The snack ended up being half dozen oysters (€16.50) and a pint (€8). The prices were on the higher side since a pint usually runs about €5-€6 but you go to say you've gone or to listen to the music which they have basically all day, everyday.
I imagine this place can be busy so I suggest going early, or late, to avoid the crowds. I was there at an off time, weekday early afternoon and sat at the bar. The service was attentive and I was helped and served quickly.
As a solo diner, the music and its volume was not a problem but if you had a group it would be difficult to hear each other.
With so many amazing pub options I would suggest venturing out, but if you need a quick pint and want to listen to some music (at any time of the day), this is a solid option.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Nov 2, 2023
Is this place kitschy and geared towards tourist? Is it loud AF with limited space to get around to ordering your drinks? The answer is yes to all but do yourself a favor and immerse yourself in this loud but iconic bar and get yourself a very overpriced pint of Guinness.
Just a little tip that I wish I had known - you can order half pints if you don't want to guzzle a pint as you're bopping around town.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 18, 2023
Super packed.
Wonderful live music.
People are so kind and engaging. We didn't dine in, just stopped by because it's the bar in PS I Love You, and if you're in Ireland, how can you not stop in for a drink?Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
