Cody Jacob Bryant

Cody's life was inspiring and heroic. Cody was born prematurely @ 23 weeks in Norman, OK. From that moment on, he was a treasured gift to his family. Cody's beautiful green eyes and smile lit up our lives and his laugh was a cherished melody to which we danced. Cody adored his mommy, who loved him the mostest, his brother, his 'memo', his dog 'wolfy', and, kindly, tolerated his dad. AKA 'Cody Jake', 'Sunshine', 'Beams', 'Ludwig', and 'Code', he practiced the disciple of 'bushido' and mastered 'cool'. 'Cody Jake' had an admiration for dressing sharply, while sporting his shades. 'Beams' enjoyed going shopping, as long as it was for preferred items, going to movies, no double features, going cycling, going for walkabout, often, and found sheer joy in stomping the muddiest puddles onto his dad, "gotcha", as often as possible, always accompanied with his gorgeous smile. 'Ludwig' was passionate about music, often tuning in his iPad and bluetooth head phones, and tuning out what he considered unnecessary; a bit of an issue. 'Code' fondly practiced conflict resolution, without need for words, by filling the 'white pony' with choice items of his target and patiently waiting on the apology due, always kindly accepting with a smile. 'Sunshine' was devoted to never being on anyone else's time schedule but his. Mostly, Cody loved traveling, especially to our place on the beach in California and watching the sun set into the ocean, while listening to U2. The epicenter of the solar eclipse, Grand Canyon, Texas, and Florida where also among his traveling's. Cody's sojourn impacted the lives of many he encountered and he will be dearly missed. However, Cody Jacob Bryant's presence leaves in its wake a profound legacy.
Cody was preceded in death by his wonderful mother Cherylle Almeda Bryant, who truly adored Cody and absolutely treasured every moment of their time together, reveling in the light of his ways; and whom Cody missed dearly; his maternal grandfather, Jay Smith, and maternal great grandmother Almeda Smith, both of whom loved and treasured Cody, delighted in his ways, and significantly contributed to his, Trevor, and their mother's happiness and wellbeing in every manner.
Cody is survived by his endearing brother Trevor Bryant, who is the best'est brother ever and loved Cody with all of his heart, treasured their time together, and whom Cody dearly missed. Paternal grandmother, Peggy defee, AKA, 'memo' who adored and treasured Cody's every moment in life and immeasurably contributed to his happiness and wellbeing; great aunt Elaine Barnett, who loved and treasured Cody dearly, truly treasured his ways, and the stories of his traveling's; aunt Monica defee, who loved and treasured her time with Cody; maternal grandmother Peggy Smith; great aunt and uncle, aunts, uncles and cousins.
We are very grateful to the network of individuals who involved themselves in Codys' and his caregivers holistic care including Alan Ivy, PhD; Pastor John Vieths of Grace Lutheran, Pastor Christian Eisenbeis and 'The Thorn Bush' Autism Support Group. Cody significantly benefited from the professional educators and staff of our Norman Public Schools, but a heartfelt "Thank You" to two very special teachers, Charlene Morgan and Lisa Bischoff. Cody's time in life would not have been possible but for the professionals in our medical community involved in his care, including St. Francis in Tulsa, where Cody spent the first four and a half months of his life in the innermost unit, within a bubble, living his way onward, while listening to Native American flute music. We are extremely grateful to everyone involved in his care within his neural surgical team and nursing staff @ Children's hospital, where miracles are in constant progress. We are also extremely grateful to the professionals @ the JD McCarty Center, 'JDM', for Children with Developmental Disability's, who have been involved in Cody's live since he was 3. They have positively impacted the lives of children with special needs, their family's, caregiver's, our community and state since 1946. Donations can be made to 'JDM', Children's Hospital. Please, give generously, often, especially @ Christmas. We are so very fortunate. Upon Cody's passing he donated, providing the profound legacy of saving the lives of SIX individuals. Cody is also survived by his father, Michael Bryant. Cody lit up my life, bestowing it with a meaningful purpose. Cody lived giving it everything he had and is my hero. Cody was a brightly shining star and I revel in the gift of his fervent light; "etre libre, soliel"
Please, join us in Cody's memorial service @ 2 on Saturday January 13 2017; Grace Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor John Vieths; 900 24th Avenue NW, Norman, 73069; all are welcome

Plant a tree: How does it work

When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.

An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.

After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.

Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
