The Cooley Peninsula has been named the tenth most beautiful place to visit in Ireland by Pulitzer-prize winning US website The Huffington Post.

A recent blog on the 10 most beautiful places to visit included the likes of The Cliffs of Moher, The Ring of Kerry and The Giant’s Causeway.

However, in what should be a huge tourist boost for the peninsula, Cooley has also made the cut in the top 10.

The Huffington Post had this to say about the area: “At northeastern tip of Ireland, the remote Cooley Peninsula juts out into the Irish Sea just below the border of Northern Ireland and while the region remains largely free of tourists, there’s still plenty of stunning scenery to take in. Enjoy the views from the forested Mourne Mountains, stop off at the charming medieval village of Carlingford and walk the windswept coastline in one of the country’s most rewarding off-the-beaten-track destinations.”
