The project involved Conservation & Stabilisation of this unique early 18th Century Palladian House. Main features included the introduction of environmental control and mechanical & electrical services into the building and the reinforcement of internal structural fabric, floors, walls and ceilings.

Basement Level:

Removal of a 1970's hallway floor and replacement with the slate floor originally designed in the 1720's. Re-plastering of the existing barrell vaulted ceilings and internal walls. A new liftwell and shaft was constructed below basement level and door opes through existing 750mm thick walls.

Ground, First & Second Floors:

Protection to fixtures and fittings, panelling, wall hangings and in some cases, complete rooms. Removal of all timber floors which were surveyed and marked for easy reinstatement after services were laid. Load tests were carried out on all floors. This involved independent support to ceilings and structural repairs which were carried out in sequence to preserve the structural integrity of the building. Fire compartmentation to 2nd floor was carried out using an 'Envirograph' system.

Roof:

Survey and removal of existing stone, demolition of old brick chimneys and reconstruction with flue lining system and new air handling units inside.
