If you remember, Wacaday was shown during school holidays on TV-am between 1985 and 1992.

Timmy Mallett presented Wacaday as well as it's sister show, The Wide Awake Club, which was shown on Saturday mornings.

'Utterly brilliant'

Wacaday was a live 30-minute programme containing a mix of wacky features which included Holiday Postcards, Talent on the Telly, and Wactors and Wactresses.

The most popular was the word association game Mallett's Mallet.

Two contestants would sit opposite each other linking each word they said to the last one.

If a contestant failed to link their next word then they would be hit on the head with the mallet.

The person who lost recieved a Wacky Plaster which was stuck on to any part of their face.

'Bleugh'!

The rules, which Timmy repeated at the beginning of every game, went something like this:

"Mallett's Mallet is a word association game, where you mustn't pause, hesitate, repeat a word, or say a word I don't like... The one with the most bruises loses!"

The never-to-be-forgotten catchphrase that accompanied the game is sure to bring back some memories:

"Look at each other and go Bleugh! Look at everyone at home and go Bleugh! Everyone at home look at them and go Bleugh!"

Combine Mallet's Mallet with Timmy's hit song Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini and you're sure to be in for a blast from the past.
