Celebrities like Cara Delevingne and Lily Collins have brought eyebrows to the forefront of the nation's beauty regimes.

Now it seems that untamed brows are no longer acceptable in the world of beauty as bloggers, make-up artists and famous faces alike attempt daring new styles and shapes.

However, as social media proves, there is sometimes such a thing as too daring.

Instagram accounts such as Eyebroww****** and badbrows_ have revealed some of the public's worst eye brow fails.

The pictures see the concept of a traditional arched brow go out of the window as inventive women (and men!) get creative with their facial hair.

In many cases the recently favoured, heavily drawn 'Scouse brow' receives a jumbo makeover as women fill out their brows with excessive eyebrow pencil and on occasions what appears to be a felt tip pen.

However others favoured a far skinnier arch, shaving off any existing hairs and replacing with a fine line or exaggerated arch.

Having to constantly tame your eyebrows can be a chore so several of those featured cut out the middle man and made their favourite shape permanent by tattooing them on.

One sports fan opted to ink NIke's famous tick-shaped swoosh above each eye, while an incarcerated man keen to make his innocence clear opted for the topical 'wrongfully' and 'convicted' on either arch.

The most inventive eyebrows easily go to one woman who decided that a simple line wouldn't do and instead painted scenic pictures including rainbows and flowers where her hairs used to be.

Other styles include rows of dots painted or tattooed in an arch, think lines drawn in a way that gives the wearer a look of permanent surprise.

Some women went for a soaring arch that extended high into their foreheads for a more dramatic look, while others picked small semi-circles directly above their peepers.

It seems Shakespeare was wrong - it's eyebrows that are now the window to the soul!
