SATURDAY week marks the 10th anniversary of Cork’s last senior All-Ireland title.

At rain-soaked Croke Park, the Rebels ground out a victory over Down thanks in no small part to Noel O’Leary’s man-marking commission on Marty Clarke.

The talented playmaker was shackled by O’Leary and when the final whistle sounded, Sam Maguire was bound for Leeside.

O’Leary, who turns 40 next year, has played adult club football for Cill na Martra since the late 90s and is as important as ever for the West Muskerry club.

Cill na Martra were county intermediate champions in 2018 and laid down a serious marker for this season’s PIFC crown after dismantling Knocknagree on Saturday.

They hit the net seven times against the highly-rated Duhallow outfit, who were shorn of some key players and still progress to a quarter-final against Nemo Rangers’ second team. Should Knocknagree progress to the semi-final they’ll take on Newmarket.

Cill na Martra are straight through to the last four, where they’ll face the winners of Kanturk and Aghada.

Noel O’Leary, or Nollaig Ó Laoire as he’s known when he lines out for the Gaeltacht side, will be in his trademark wing-back berth again for that clash.
