Here's the thing, with a lot of fantasy series, I feel like there is almost always a book that is mediocre, the filler book. That is NOT the case with this series. Every book thus far has been action, information, and banter packed. I love these characters so much and I am happy to say that it exceeded my expectations!

This found family just keeps getting better and better. Thank you, Nicole, for blessing me with an ARC of Trials. My head is spinning from the theories. Ophelia and her crew just keep getting better and better. I'm loving where this story is headed!

Absolutely honored that Nicole let me beta read The Trials of Ophelia!!!

If you love Throne of Glass, this is giving me a Greek mythology inspired vibe. Please read it.

I want to keep this spoiler free so all I say is Nicole has done a beautiful job developing her characters and letting them grow in a realistic way that’s healthy and normal for someone who has gone through the trauma a lot of the characters have gone through. Instead of just rushing through it or letting a relationship cure everything, the characters spend time working through their issues.

Everyone who was annoyed with Ophelia in book 1 should really stick with it because she comes so so so far.

And I’m still screaming over the ending, I can’t wait to see where the next book takes the crew!

Holy shit….

I’ll keep this spoiler free which is very hard with a third book in the series.

This series gets better and better and better with each book that comes out.
The pacing of this third book was incredible. There was something happening at every turn and the additional POV’s in different areas of the world and how it all linked up was done so well.
Ophelia continues to be an absolute blood thirsty badass with so much heart.
The found family continues to pull at every heart string. Their strength and love for one another is beautiful.

Nicole is just honestly fantastic at building relationships and friendships. She’s brilliant at building character backstory, understanding trauma and then building it into her complex and exciting world.

I couldn’t work out what was happening until just before it happened which is great for someone who doesn’t like guessing what’s happening in the plot

If you haven’t started reading this series yet, get on it!!!

Every book in this series just keeps getting better and better. It’s so underrated it should be a crime. I’m obsessed with this world Nicole has created and the characters within it. The found family is everything. Our FMC Ophelia came to PLAY in this one, god I love her, talk about superior character growth and development. We finally got Tolek’s POV and I am so in love with this man it’s not even funny. His love for Ophelia is everything and I’m obsessed with their relationship, thank you Nicole for giving us HEALTHY COMMUNICATION!!! Malakai really surprised me, I did not expect to love his character as much as I do, I was cheering for him the entire time! I had so much fun reading this book and it absolutely did not feel like a filler book despite being the third book in the series which I am very grateful for. The battle scenes had my stomach in knots and heart racing and I loved every second. I did find it a bit slow to get into and the pacing a little slow in the middle, which is why I gave it 4 stars. All in all I cannot wait to continue this series!!

Have yet to fully pick my jaw up off the floor... my heart is in pieces in the best way.

I had the pleasure to be an ARC reader for this book, all thoughts for this review are my own! I will be keeping this review spoiler free as well!

Nicole has done it once again!!!! Each one of her books has managed to be better than the last and if this trend continues this series truly has the potential to become one of the next great epic fantasy reads! I want to start by briefly stating that The Curse of Ophelia was a 4 star read for me, I loved the characters that were introduced and the world-building felt like it had good bones to continue throughout the series! The Shards of Ophelia was a 4.5 star read for me, I loved this book mainly because it established what makes Nicoles writing so special and that is the character driven story and character development! I will always love the incredibly flawed characters over the perfect ones and Nicole writes characters that hurt to relate to in the best way! The relationships that grow and change in this book is why it was so special to me!

Now... The Trials of Ophelia. I had high expectations but HOLY COW!!!!!! There is no way you could have prepared me for just how good this book was going to be. I am in complete awe of the expanding world, the EPIC part of the epic fantasy truly comes to the forefront in this story!!! It felt like the world that Nicole had written was breathing and coming to life more and more with each turn of the page! New characters are introduced, characters we have come to love continued to grow, and if the relationship tension is the reason you love Nicoles writing TRUST ME you will be missing none of it with this story!!! The longing is everything in this book >>>>>> (and potentially the beginnings of another tension-riddled relationship?!?!??!?!?!)

For the people who love "vibes" comparisons - this story evoked the same feelings in me that Heir of Fire from the Throne of Glass series did. The point in the series feels like a pivoting point for the plot and the world building, Trials feels the same way in my opinion. Again, the plot does not have any overlap, but the FEELINGS I got were the same.

There are plenty of questions that were answered in this story, but more that seemed to be revealed which I LOVE in a fantasy book, that is what has definitely kept me on the edge of my seat for the next book. There are characters/information that I am not sure whether or not we can trust, good and evil that both seem to pass into grey areas, and storylines that I have no idea where they are going to twist and turn to next! My only regret about reading this story early is not having the next book yet!!!

Thank you again to Nicole for allowing me to be an ARC reader for this book! I cannot wait to read anything else that she writes forever & ever!

Infinitely yours...♡

Updated Review - 3/22/23

YOU GUYS. I have been an Ophelia stan since day one but this book takes my obsession to another level. The insane development of each and every character in this book is unmatched. You can really tell Nicole meticulously writes her characters to be unique and special and she truly writes from her heart.

The development of a certain romance (I won't give anything away!!!) has been one of my favorite things to read. The push and pull that the characters go through and the way that SHE would burn the world for HIM sends butterflies straight to my stomach. I am so proud of both of them.

Seriously you guys have to go read these books. They just continue to get better and leave you wanting more. I cannot wait for the novella to come out and I already know its going to be amazing! Thank you Nicole for an ARC of this book. My opinions are my own.

You know what I love about Nicole's writing? She ups the stakes with every book in the series. I did not think anything could knock Shards of Ophelia out of first place as my favorite in the series, but Trials does.

Trials so freaking does.

The Characters:
Trials does what I want every book to do with character -- make me care for a character I'd absolutely written off. There is nothing more satisfying than character growth. And Nicole brought it. Mali's character development was off the charts. I will be honest, by the end of book 2 I was ready to shove that man off a metaphorical cliff. But damn, his character arc -- I savored it like I savor my first cup of coffee in the morning. It was just so satisfying and heartwarming to see him grow from a boy into an actual man. We love to see a fictional man working on getting his sh*t together. It was one of my favorite parts of this book. Plus, his interactions with a certain character had me screaming "JUST FREAKING KISS HER ALREADY!" The tension was ridiculous, but so good. I hope to see more of them in the future.

Then there is my other favorite part of this book. Tol. Hands down -- this man made me a believer in the friends-to-lovers trope. I loved watching Ophelia and Tol finally grow together as we couple. I love that Tol knew when to be patient and when to push -- and the payoff -- whew. I also really enjoyed that Ophelia identified previous behaviors and sought to make sure she was handling this new relationship in a healthier manner (even if she did overcorrect somewhat at times, we have all been there). It was truly one of the most satisfying moments of this book.

As for the side characters -- ooo, so much development here as well. I need that Cyph novella like I need water. I am not even kidding. That boy has some hard truths to deal with and I am living for it. And I cannot wait to see the new arc for a specific character (I do not want to spoil it).

The plot keeps good pacing as it builds to the all-out battle we have been waiting for. I like that Nicole kept the pacing moving quickly. I can't wait to see how she ties this all together.

If you haven't read this series yet, grab a copy now. You do not want to miss it.

“Nothing would keep me from you. Infinitely yours, remember?”

This series is an ♾️

I could not be more in love !!
It truly just gets better with every book.

The squeals, the screams, the laughs and the cry’s that TTOO gave me. I am so beyond obsessed with them all.

I was once again blessed with an ARC of this and Nicole delivered and then some. No words will ever do this feeling, this rush of emotions justice. These books really do hold a top shelf in my heart.

Just when I think I can't appreciate my girl Ophelia more, TTOO comes swooping in and makes me feel ALL THE FEELS. Her journey is one that I think daily at this stage. Her stance is just inspiring and more relatable than one might think. I am forever in awe.
My guy Tolek. I just want to hold him and never let go. It’s unhealthy how much he infiltrates my being but he really is that divine. He is a religion to us and one that I gladly worship any given day.

• Friends to lovers
• Trainer x Trainee
• Treacherous quests
• Greek mythology inspired
• Political Intrigue
• Tolek Vincienzo 💘
• Ballroom dancing and forehead drops
• Candlelit confessions
• Found family 🥰
• Healing character journeys
• Touch her or HIM and be very sorry
• Nightmare soothing 🥹
• Multi POV
• Animal sidekicks

Between the characters and their arcs, relationship development, epic plot and of the bestest found families this series is one I will never stop recommending or shouting from the rooftops.

If you need a new fantasy world to dive into with incredible characters, a swoonworthy and (spicy) romance that is going to make you forget the world this one is an absolute must.

LOVED IT.

I am just absolutely hooked on this series. I am in love with progression of both the story and the writing. Each book has gotten better and better and the way I love these characters is INTENSE.

The pacing here is slowed down a bit, but NOT in a bad way. There’s clearly a build to the last two books and I am anxious to see where those go. This also allowed for amazing character growth across the entire cast. I loved seeing both main romantic pairings (trying not to say specifics because spoilers) lean on each other and take steps on their own. This book is engaging and still has those intense action scenes where you’re not sure who’s going to make it back out.

PLUS. There were some amazing reveals that had me questioning the entire world and I love that. This world and magic system is growing even more and I love how the it’s been laid out. And I love that this book has spice without overshadowing the story. Emotional depth and connection is my favorite and there’s that in heaps here.

Another beautiful installment. I am obsessed with many scenes throughout (and my kindle highlights will back me up). If you’re now seeing this review, go back and start this series!! Absolutely worth it.

Overall audience notes:
- Fantasy Romance
- Language: low-moderate
- Romance: 2-3 open door; low-moderate explicit; light innuendo
- Violence: high
- Trigger/Content Warnings: depictions of alcohol/drug dependency, discussions of sexual assault (not on page), recounted child abuse, torture, PTSD

This book is truly for the epic adventure fantasy girlies! So much happened in this one but it was all so well thought out and planned. I’m going to keep this spoiler free so I don’t want to say too much {proceed to write a short novel} but this has everything you could want:

-trials & adventures
-battles
-training scenes
-love confessions (nicole writes some of my absolute favorites love confessions)
-NO bed 👀
-mythical creatures and magic
-emotional & trauma healing
-found family
-SPICE

Let me tell you, Nicole edged us for basically 2.5 books but the slow burn WAS SO WORTH IT. I was squealing and kicking my feet and almost blacked out, it was a gooooood time.

Nicole has a way of writing that not only makes you fall for the two main characters but also love and adore the side characters as well. Ophelia’s ~inner circle~ is some of my favorite found family I’ve read and I cannot wait to get more of their individual stories and arcs!!

I literally can’t say enough good things and I cannot wait for more!!!!!

Thank you to the author for the eARC opportunity. Like always, this review is voluntary & honest.

How does one get a book tattooed on their heart & their soul? Because this book has become my favorite book in this whole series so far. And this series is one of my top favorites of all time. This book had me hooked from beginning to end & I did not want it to end. I already miss the world, the characters, everything about this series. I cannot wait to continue this journey with the future books.

Nicole has masterfully shown the development of not only the main characters, but the side characters & their own journeys as well. The progression of the overall plot has also been flawless thus far, which just makes this series such an incredible read.

Ophelia is my Queen, my hero, MY BABY. One I will protect at all costs. Seriously, I was ready to somersault into this book & see if I could show up in this world & fight alongside her. Her growth throughout these three books has been perfection. And I've loved to see her step into her role as Revered, the way she is selfless & deeply cares for her people & the life they deserve to live. The trials she goes through in this book truly test her to her limits & the Ophelia that comes out on the other side is one that is the strongest & most powerful version of herself.

Tolek, my baby, my love, my HEART. I loved reading his POVs in this book because I just knew getting to see into his mind, his thoughts & emotions, would be such a wonderful experience. This man truly has a heart of gold, he loves wholly & deeply. He is selfless & deeply loyal. But we also see the Tolek behind the easy-going, swoon-worthy smiles & playful personality. Tolek has a past that still haunts him, one that causes pain & plants fears to make him believe he is not worthy of love, of happiness. His journey in this book was one I adore & hold close to my heart. Of him realizing he is perfect as he is & worthy of all of the happiness in the world. Owner of my heart I tell you!

Malakai, I feel like his growth from the beginning of the series until this book is the most satisfying to see. IT HAD ME CHEERING HIM ON & CLAPPING FOR HIM CONSTANTLY. From having emotions & trauma that were so strong, to the point they could be debilitating, to being a warrior that others look at as a leader... saying I'm proud of him isn't even enough. Malakai opened himself up to feel, feel everything & feel truly & deeply. And that isn't to say that he has fully healed, but he is on his way. And most importantly, he found parts of himself again in this book, who he used to be, but met a whole other side of himself as well. The Malakai he is shaping up to be is one I will forever support & adore.

Cypherion, Jezebel, Santorina, Barrett, Dax, Mila... without them, this book & series wouldn't be the masterpiece that it was. Each one of them, as well as other side characters in this book/series that I adore, bring so much more magic into it overall. Each have their own stories, journeys & trials. Their own developments have also had me tearing up with pride & filling my heart with joy because they truly make you feel a feeling of comfort, of family & love. They truly are the heart & soul of this group, of this family & our main characters wouldn't be the same without them. They truly hold an essential role in this overall story.

This book was such an incredibly epic experience & also one that took my heart on a whole rollercoaster ride. The writing truly had me fully immersed in this world & the story, to the point where I felt I could see, hear, feel & experience everything. You MUST go on this journey & start this book as soon as it releases or this series as a whole if you haven't already. I whole-heartedly, 100% recommend it. 💙

"I'll be here if you need anything. And when you're back with that emblem in hand, I'll get on my knees and worship you better than any Angel."

Do I have to say more? If this doesn't convince you, then let me try otherwise:

Rating: 5 ⭐/5
Spice: 2 🌶️/5

I binged the series in the last two weeks and while the first book was gooood but the Shards of Ophelia and the Trials of Ophelia were AMAZING. I don't know what Nicole Platania is putting in these books but I was eating them up and left not a little crumble behind!!
This is a romantasy series where you get a lot of worldbuilding, plot and a romance subplot. After the ending of book two Ophelia and her friends is going to find the 7 emblems for her to unite them as the prophecy told her. Each single one of the characters are going through some (healing) journey on their own and Nicole was able to write it so beautifully. There is something about the way she writes, touches my soul and heart on a deeper level. The feelings and inner battles each of them has to through was so beautifully portrayed. I caught myself giggling and in the next moment sobbing hard during some scenes.
The romance is this one was chef's kiss! The slow burn was BURNING and I was here for it to turned into ashes! Find someone in your life so supportive like our golden retriever MMC. He will sacrifice himself over and over again just to save her. He will respect your boundaries and will be emotional available for you. He became one of my new book boyfriends for sure! OMG and the NO BED scene? Oh girl that was HOT!!!!

Everything about this book was amazing and I am so so happy I was able to read this as an ARC!! I couldn't have waited any longer! I can not wait how the journey will continue ♥️

First, thank you so much for the arc of The Trials of Ophelia. It had been an absolute pleasure to read your most recent book baby.

The Curse of Ophelia Series has been such a great adventure. I can’t believe I need to wait so many more months for book 4!

Book three continues on Ophelia and her friend’s path to defeat the Engrossian Queen and tracking down the Angel emblems. There are times when the gang is all together but much of the book they are separated dividing and conquering the threats ahead of and In front of them. I loved watching our character grow into their new selves after the battle at the end of book 2 and the tragedy that they have faced. Although their losses will leave emotional and physical scars each character works to build on those losses to come out stronger.

The bond between Ophelia, Malakai, Tolek, Cypherion, Jezebel and Rina are so strong but I loved the new characters that they have let into their inner circle, Dex, Erista, Vale, Barrett, Mila and Lyria. I can just tell that this generation of Gallantians will bring forth a positive change to their realm.

If you love fantasy romance you’ll want to check out this series.

“We were all complex, and those who embraced all sides of themselves were often the strongest.”
The Trials of Ophelia (The Curse of Ophelia book 3) by Nicole Platania

Synopsis: The Curse of Ophelia is an epic fantasy series set in the warrior world fueled by magic and secrets, starring a badass protagonist Ophelia, who quests with her incredible found family to find her lost lover, but ends up discovering deadly political secrets among clans, bloodlines and Angels.

This third installment in this epic, thirsty and sizzling fantasy series DID NOT DISAPPOINT!👏🏻
Nicole is known for writing raw emotions that hits every nerve of your body with immense speed and this book is no exception. 🤌🏻
There were so many moments where I gasped, I was shocked, ached for characters and giggled like a child. The after war tragedies are portrayed so good, I almost shed a tear reading certain characters. The range of emotions in this book is most versatile. Earlier book had felt like a slice in the heart, but this one healed much of it and gave readers more to cling on to.

Along with mental health rep, this one significantly moved forward with the plot of the series as it was fast paced than earlier two. The last part of the book especially kept me on the edge; though I had expected more to untangle of the Angel secrets. The adventures the found family undertook were not just thrilling but nail bitingly dangerous. The found family angle in this book was most satisfying, seeing these characters bond and protect each other in times such as war and betrayals.

Newer territories, newer creatures and swoon worthy, buzzing romance(s) are what all made the book a delicious recipe one would want to devour. The writing is definitely dense, which felt a bit difficult to understand in the first go; but it’s only necessary in such a fiery fantasy tale where so many things were happening in a moment.

You would not want to miss this. It’s so good, you’ll only want to come back, as I do. It had been an absolute pleasure ARC reading Trials.

After the events of Shards, I was a bit apprehensive in a good way, as there was a lot waiting to be dealt with, unpacked, and uncovered. I was not disappointed, and wow was it a ride.

I am so so happy with the character growth and development that was explored in this book. Malakai learned to move forward and to set boundaries for the sake of his own mental health. It was refreshing after the previous book, where he was (understandably) stuck in his own head and unable to get past some of the things that had happened in the first two books. But here he gives his heart another chance at love and works on patience with himself and learning how to be a better person. Similarly, I saw growth with Ophelia as well. She had more of this self-discovery in the previous book, but she still learned to pace herself here. She learned to be a better leader, friend, and potential romantic partner.

As for the story, while the action was slower this time around, it was intriguing and I cannot wait to see where it goes. The characters got the focus this time around, and with good reason - their development, discoveries and relationships are going to help them with what was revealed plot-wise throughout the course of the book.

I am beyond excited for the novella, and cannot wait to see where the rest of the series goes!

I recieved this book as an ARC and I am so greateful I got to read Ophelias story so far. I absolutely loved this book. The plot, the characters, the entire vibe of it are immaculate.
The plot had so many twists and turns and even with multiple views was easy to follow. Even though my brain feels like its exploding with theories for the next book and confusion over the secrets yet to be unveiled.
The characters have grown so dear to me!! Ophelias unwavering strength, Tols loyalty, Cyphs calm, Jessie's light amongst the dark, Malakai coming back to accepting himself as well as the newer characters we got to know better in this book have truly touched and inspired me. I was feeling every twist and turn with them and for the last 150 pages I think I was shaking constantly, both from emotions and shock at the twists.
I truly can't wait for the next book diving deeper into Val and Cyphs adventure and everything that is to come for our other heroes. Cause one thing is for sure, this is not even close to the end.

This series just keeps getting better and better. The characters, the plot, the world building! Just wow!

The character development in this book is amazing. Between the original characters and the new ones, every single one of them is growing into their own.

I absolutely love when I can relate to a character or start to think like the character. At one point, I thought maybe this could be possible and then in the next two pages Ophelia said the same thing. I feel like I’m part of their mighty crew, fighting beside them and joking around a fire.

Let me tell ya, that the plot twists were completely unpredictable. They had me baffled at 1am and unable to put the book down. Did I lose some sleep? Maybe… Was it worth it? 1000% This is a series that is written beautifully and I cannot wait to see what else Nicole has for us!

I’m completely honored to be one of Nicole’s ARC readers and to have the opportunity to battle with Ophelia and her gangly crew of misfits. Thank you thank you thank youu!!

DISCLAIMER: This is an ARC review.

This book was phenomenal. My favorite out of the series so far. It had everything I could want in a fantasy romance. Epic quests, epic battles, delicious romance, bad ass female characters, swoon worthy men, unique magic system, and wonderfully satisfying character growth.

Nicole hit it out of the park with this one. I cannot wait for the next one.

At first it was a little slow for more since I binged the first two in like four days. But, after the catching up chapters I went from say 15% to 80% in a few hours. All in all, I can't wait for the next books. I was so blessed to be an ARC for Nicole, she is the sweetest and her books are perfection. I hope you enjoy💙

This is the third book in the new adult romantasy series, The Curse of Ophelia. Book three picks up after the end of book two as Ophelia and her friends struggle with the aftermath of book two and set out on a quest. Tropes include prophecies, found family, slow burn, trauma/healing, who did this to you, and “good girl” (and a favorite micro-trope, nightmares).

The Lovely: I loved the characters (main and otherwise) and their relationships. And wow did those relationships, and what the characters were experiencing, pack an emotional punch. The stakes were higher, the tension was higher and, paired with the wild ride of a plot, I was a nervous wreck most of the book(in a good way).

The Mundane: While the pacing was much improved over books one and two, there were some long stretches of inner monologue. Although I could tell they were there to explain some backstory and lore/mythology, I felt like they could have been better conveyed by dialogue with other characters.

Rating: 4.5/5 Stars 3/5 Flames

Recommendation: Thank you Nicole for providing this book for my review. All opinions are my own. I feel like each book in this series gets better and better, or at least I like each one more and more. The emotional impact hit me right in the heart, especially around the trauma and healing the characters worked through. I’m looking forward to a novella coming out later this year before book four. If you like new adult romantasy with amazing side characters, a love story and prophecies, I think you would like this book.

With Ophelia’s fate entangled with the secrets and mysteries of the angels, there’s so much more we have yet to learn. I cannot get enough of this series and will be anxiously awaiting the next installment to be reunited with these beloved characters!

🪽 The Trials of Ophelia is a harrowing journey of healing with a passionate FMC, found family that loves so fiercely, and delicate romance that burns brighter than Angellight.

Thank you so much Nicole for the opportunity to read this ARC! This is my honest and voluntary review

*ARC Reader*

Wow, wow, WOW. How long can goosebumps last? Asking for a friend....

This book was amazing from start to finish, giving the reader everything that we love about Ophelia and her friends by tenfold.

The delicious romance; self discovery - the beautiful, the ugly, and the scary; the heart-wrenching truths, the mystery (that I'll be honest, I cant figure it out and it's driving me crazy!).

Not to mention, the tension and relationship building is *chef's kiss*

The magic system is evolving and revealing more of the truth of what's a play at each page. The writing in itself was esquisite and flowed beautifully. It pulls the reader in, eager to discover what's next for our favorite Mystiques.

My heart stopped so many times, the battles scenes were top notch, and I found myself loving all of the characters even more than I did in the first two installments.

If you haven't read The Curse of Ophelia and The Shards of Ophelia yet, there is still time to read them before Trials officially arrives!

The Trials of Ophelia is a HIGHLY recommend, releasing March 19th.

First, thank you so much to the author for an ARC of this book!!

This was one of my more anticipated new releases of 2024. The last book was action packed and I fell hopelessly in love with all of the characters. Unfortunately, I felt like book 3 was paced similarly to book 1. And after coming off the high of book 2, it left me a little bored. It felt like a majority of the book was internal dialogues and characters working on self growth. And the action felt far away, almost? Yes, there was action obtaining the emblems. But all the Kakias drama felt like we were only ever ALMOST coming into contact with her, and then it was over?

Anywho, still adore the characters.

Honest ARC review:
Amazing!! I loved this book! The pacing was perfect! The action was spread throughout but we also got enough down time to really dive in to characters and relationships. I love the mystery surrounding the curse and uncovering new information. The way Nicole writes trauma and how the characters deal with it is beautiful. She does a great job of showing different ways someone handles trauma and I really appreciate that. I’m super intrigued to learn more and see how the next book plays out! I highly recommend reading this series!

All that drama, and the story still isn't done?! Why, oh, why?!?! Okay, I know why but whhhyyyy???

Did I happily lose sleep reading this book? I absolutely did! And I would have done it again if I hadn't managed to finish the book in that sitting. I loved it so much. My only issue is it's a cliffhanger! I hate cliffhangers. I knew! I knew, but I still had a delusional hope that it would wrap up nicely. Of course not! But I loved it all just the same.

And now I sit and wait in utter agony until the next book in the series comes out and I can dive back into this exceptional world.

This fantastic series continues with our favorite chosen family embarking on adventures taking them across Gallantia. The stakes are higher, the romance grows even more, and the emotional turmoil is EVERYTHING. I somehow fell even more in love with the characters, and I did not think that was possible! Each character goes through a journey and it is so beautiful. The overarching magic grew to new heights and it was delightful to read. I cannot recommend this series enough!
