Julianne Nicholson and Dick Wolf are reuniting.
The former Law & Order: Criminal Intent star has boarded the first season of Wolf’s forthcoming anthology series, Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders.
The eight-episode first installment of the anthology series is described as a “gripping in-depth dramatization” of the famed murder case that took America by storm in the early 1990s. When the Menendez brothers were tried on national TV for brutally killing their parents in Beverly Hills, their story became a national obsession. Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders dives into the players, the crime and the media circus, detailing the day-to-day battles of the trial and unveiling the shocking truth of what really went down behind the scenes.
Nicholson will play Jill Lansing, Leslie Abramson’s elegant and whip-smart partner on the defense team. Responsible for representing Lyle, Lansing is described as a caring professional who is genuinely dedicated to the Menendez brothers’ defense.
Nicholson joins a cast that includes four-time Emmy winner Edie Falco as Abramson; Anthony Edwards as Judge Stanley Weisberg; Gus Halper, who will play older brother Eric; and Miles Gaston Villanueva, who will portray younger brother Lyle.
The role marks Nicholson’s forth time working with Wolf. She guest-starred on Law & Order, before starring on his legal dramas Conviction and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Her other credits include August: Osage County, Black Mass, Masters of Sex and Boardwalk Empire. Nicholson is repped by UTA and manager Davien Littlefield.
Ordered to series last July, Law & Order True Crime follows in the vein of true-crime scripted dramas like The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story. Law & Order vet Rene Balcer serves as showrunner, while Lesli Linka Glatter (Homeland) will direct several episodes. The two will executive produce with Wolf, Peter Jankowski and Arthur W. Forney. Universal Television will produce in association with Wolf Films.
Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders will air Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT this fall on NBC.
