In 2008, the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) began construction of the new Terminal 2 at Dublin Airport (DUB) in Dublin, Ireland. The new passenger terminal building (75,000 sq. meters) and Pier E (25,000 sq. meters) included new arrivals and departures areas, retail facilities, nineteen new aircraft stands, check-in area and associated infrastructure. The new Terminal 2 raised the capacity at the airport to a potential of 35 million passengers per year. The DAA selected a team comprised of ARUP, Pascall+Watson and MACE for the design the new Terminal 2.
ARUP and the DAA awarded SITA the role of Specialist IT Partner for the design and delivery of Special Systems, including the Communication, Security, Airport Operations, Baggage Management, and Passenger Processing Systems. Inspired Networks was contracted by SITA to lead the design and delivery of Special Systems.
The scope included the Design and Delivery of the DAA Operational Control Center which would become the primary operations center for the airport and the US Customs & Border Protection (CBP) located in Terminal 2.
