Cooley Mountains

Cooley Mountains

The hills of the Cooley Peninsula are a magical landscape. It is in this setting that the legendary Queen Maeve has, according to ancient tradition, instigated the Cattle raids of Cooley.

McCoillte from Carlingford, whose real name is Kevin Woods, ensures that the old myths still live on today. Ireland’s last Leprechaun whisperer claims that 236 Leprechauns live in the Cooley Mountains. He tells his stories so thrilling that in 2009 he was even able to convince the EU to protect the leprechauns of this area.
