Passengers at Dublin Airport were left confused this afternoon after reporting fire alarms going off at Terminal 2.

A number of people took to social media to report the issue.

One person claimed they were asked to "evacuate" while others alleged there was "no staff that know what to do".

It is understood that this was a false alarm and announcements were quickly made that the airport is not being evacuated and is operating as normal.

A passenger wrote on Twitter: "Dublin Airport Terminal 2 being evacuated. No staff, no direction... people just walking towards the departure gates."

Another added: "Fire alarm going on and off in T2 no staff anywhere that know what to do... Announcement has come on and off 3 different times saying clear the area and follow staff but no one knows where to go."

In December 2022, a part of Dublin Airport's Terminal 1 was evacuated as the airport's own fire service arrived to deal with "the activation of a fire alarm".

A spokesperson for daa told the Irish Mirror at the time: "Part of Terminal 1 at Dublin Airport was evacuated for a short period of time just before 08.30 on Monday morning due to the activation of a fire alarm.

"Dublin Airport’s own fire service attended immediately and quickly brought the situation under control.

"Security operations within T1 remained open throughout and normal operations resumed shortly after 0900."
