This summer, we are dreaming of heading down to Co Kerry to spend some time in Dingle, the exciting town home to adventures on the water, great Irish pubs, wonderful scenery, and some of the best ice cream you could ever taste. Here is our guide to spending time in Digle, Co Kerry for the ultimate Irish summer break.

Where is Dingle?

Dingle is a small seaside town located on the southwest of the Dingle Peninsula in Co Kerry. The closest city and airport to the town of Dingle is Cork City.

The best way to get to Dingle is by renting a car, considering it will probably be only a portion of your Wild Atlantic Way adventure.

Adventures on the water

Dingle is a great place to go for adventures on the water, mainly sea safaris. Given its location, Dingle is a prime spot to go looking for a huge number of sea life including dolphins, whales, and basking sharks.

In fact, a dolphin in the waters of the bay became famous the world over for being an ultra-friendly creature who often greeted visitors, so much so that there were specific Fungie the Dolphin tours to see the friendly fellow.

Stunning scenery all around

Dingle is also known for its surrounding scenery. The town is a great base for exploring the Dingle Peninsula and some of the most beautiful parts of Ireland, including Killarney National Park and the Ring of Kerry.

For walkers and hikers, they will be spoiled for choice when it comes to scenery. As well as the Dingle Town Walk, there is the Dingle Way, the Tom Crean Trail, and the Meelin Hill Loop Walk.

Amazing food

After all of your exploring, there are some great pubs and restaurants to unwind in the town of Dingle. Naturally, there is some wonderful seafood to be enjoyed in Dingle as well as other Irish favorites.

Standouts include Lord Baker's Restaurant & Bar, The Half Door Restaurant, The Fish Box, Solas Tapas & Wine, and The Boatyard.

After your meal, you simply need to head to Murphy's Ice Cream, which is made in Dingle. It is some of the best ice cream in the world and features interesting flavors such as Dingle Sea Salt, Irish Brown Bread, Chocolate Whiskey, and Dingle Gin.

Buzzing pubs

Like any proper Irish town, Dingle is home to some fantastic pubs. Some of the most popular choices include The Dingle Pub, Dick Mack's Pub, O'Flaherty's Bar, and Neligan's Bar.
