If you have a side fringe - does it poke you in the eye and drive you MAD

I am so trying to grow out my fringe, I have a short wide face and I really need to . currently have a medium bob a bit like pictured. It flops over my face really badly though (heavy, thick, forward growing hair). The constant sticking in my eyes, swinging into my vision (bad enough with glasses) is driving me mad, literally giving me migraines. I would like to cut my hair a little shorter round the back and take out some of the weight but will that make it worse? I really don't want to go back to a fringe or I will look really middle aged, I've tried it before.

Is there some wonder product I can cement it into place with, without looking like a greasy combover?

Yes, plus it forms an annoying curve in the wrong direction leading to me shoving it behind my ear most of the time.
If anyone has an answer to this I would be interested. I suspect any answer might involve hairspray.

I have a sweeping side fringe and yes, I've made the decision to start growing it out as it is constantly swooping into my right eye, so annoying!!

I have one! It only pokes me in the eye if it gets too long, so I keep to regular trims between haircuts. It does drive me nuts most days, but my hair isn't thick enough to have a full fringe, and I hate my face without some kind of fringe. I do hate it when it starts flopping over the arm of my glasses though.

I think it should still be trimmed slightly as you grow out, just to keep it looking smart. Do you usually get the weight taken out of it? It's what my hairdresser does. Also, do you have a side-parting like in the photo? Maybe move your parting while it grows out?

If I look back at pictures when I had short hair and a fringe 12 years ago it wasn't a good look. Well it looked like I had given up and gone for a very sensible but unflattering haircut. Good grief I am middle aged so don't know what I'm trying to hide, obviously different cuts suit different faces.
