In Langley Speedway’s long history, there probably haven’t been many nights when one driver won three races.

But that’s exactly what Cody Bryant did Saturday night in Hampton.

First, he swept a pair of 35-lap Virginia Racers events with eight entrants.

In the opener, Bryant edged Ryley Music by 182-thousandths of a second and third-place Paul Debolt by 750-thousandths. In the encore, Bryant came from the back of the field and passed runner-up Doug Warren to prevail by 0.312 of a second, while Music was third and Debolt fourth.

In the program-closing Enduro 30-lap race, Bryant captured his third checkered flag of the evening and his second victory of the year in that division, emerging atop a field of 19. He crossed the finish line 1.754 seconds ahead of runner-up Stephen Flinn, while his father, Charlie Bryant, took third, 2.111 behind.

Of the trifecta, Cody Bryant said in a postrace interview on social media, “It’s not something that you do often. I’m very thankful to have the opportunity to do it. … I had a great night. I can’t ask for anything else better.”

Flinn retained a wide lead in the season points.

Modified: Matt Carter and Brad Adams scored 30-lap victories in twin features.

Carter, the division’s points leader this year, won the opener by 1.782 seconds over Adams, with Rick Gdovic placing third among 13 competitors. It was Carter’s fifth win of 2022.

But Carter was black-flagged on a restart and ended just fifth in the encore race, which Adams took by 886-thousandths of a second over Chris Johnson for his first victory of the year. Gdovic repeated in third, meaning Adams moved past him to earn second place alone in points.

Grand Stock: Chris Roberts earned his fourth victory of the season and moved alone atop the points race by cruising to a 30-lap triumph. He beat runner-up Nick Sample by 9.833 seconds, and Randy Sample was another 2.375 behind in third.

Tim Wilson, who entered the night sharing the standings lead with Roberts, was eighth in a field of nine.

Pro Six: Only four drivers competed, and Travis Wall scored a 30-lap victory, trailed by Donovan Edwards by 2.237 seconds and Chris Bechtel by 2.867.

It was Wall’s third win of the year, and he broke a tie with Edwards atop the season points chart.

Legends: Points leader Spencer Saunders captured a 25-lap win, defeating second-place Cody Carlton by 1.376 seconds. Devon Courtney was third among 10 lead-lap drivers in the field of 15. It was Saunders’ second victory of the year.

Mini Cup: High school student Zach Sprouse edged Tyler Warriner by 182-thousandths of a second for a 25-lap victory in the opener of two races. Nathan Reynolds placed a distant third in a field of 14.
