Silver Strand, at the tip of the Slieve League Peninsula, is considered one of the most beautiful beaches on the Wild Atlantic Way and is well sheltered in a horseshoe-shaped bay. The beach is one of the most remote beaches in the county, just beyond the small town of Glencolmcille, which is also home to the famous Glencolumbkille Folk Village, a replica of a rural village with a glimpse into life from the 18th to 20th centuries.
At the end of the Wild Atlantic Way road there is a large car park from which you can take short walks along the coast and to the beach. But you get the most beautiful view of the golden sandy beach and the cliffs from above and it really is just candy for the eyes!
My time at the Slieve League Peninsula was characterized by very poor, rainy and stormy weather and I only had a few minutes of evening light on a day where I could take these photos. After all!

Hello, I’m Sandra – a passionate landscape photographer and solo globetrotter. In this blog I show my best landscape, nature and travel photos which have been taken during my travels around the world. I shared my passion for travel and photography with my late husband Gerd until 2018, whom I now take with me in my heart to every place I visit.
