1996 Mercedes Benz 814 crew cab recovery lorry, 5958 cc. Registration number N165 JLY. Chassis number WDB6740142K192290. Engine number 35690120420209. In 1967, the T2 was introduced as a successor to the L319/406 series. The vehicle filled the gap between the smaller Mercedes-Benz T1 and the heavier trucks. The T2 was available as a box van, a flat-bed light truck (with single or double cab), or a minibus. From 1977 the chassis was offered, for the mounting of larger box van and bus bodies, in two different widths. In 1981 the T2 received a facelift, the most visible differences were the new radiator grill, which now was a moulding of black plastic. The various T2 versions were popular for a wide range of applications: they were used as delivery vans, light builders' vans or trucks, fire-brigade and rescue support vehicles, post office parcel delivery vans. This flat bed chassis and cab were converted to a recovery truck by J and J conversions of Andover in 1996 and in use commercially covering over 550,000 km until retired. Now in private, non hire use, another smaller vehicle has been bought to replace it. The cab has seating for four passengers, the tilt bed has an electric winch. It has a gross laden weight of 7500 kg. Sold with the V5C, a 2001 Vehicle Inspectorate Certificate, buyers should make their own enquires as to the drive ability on current licences. Please note that the Transit van is not included with the truck.
