Units from Cork City Fire Brigade, Mallow Fire Brigade, the Ambulance service and gardaí attended the scene and the road was closed off

A body has been found in a burning car in Cork city this afternoon.

Cork City Fire Brigade received a call about a car on fire in Whitechurch on the northside of Cork City at 2.25pm today.

When they arrived at the scene, they worked to extinguish an intense car fire and found a body in the driver’s seat of the car.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Units from Cork City Fire Brigade, Mallow Fire Brigade, the Ambulance service and gardaí attended the scene and the road was closed off.
