As Cork concert goers hope to add another to Bruce Springsteen's Glory Days on Leeside, they may be left waiting if they are hoping for a sunny day.

On Thursday, Páirc Uí Chaoimh will once again be home to Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street band as they perform the third of their four Irish gigs this year.

The New Jersey singer will be greeted by a nearly sold-out crowd in Cork, with just a handful of tickets available on Ticketmaster at the time of writing.

It will be Springsteen's first time back in Cork since he played in the old Páirc Uí Chaoimh in 2013, just weeks before the stadium regeneration began.

While the sun was shining on that occasion, those hoping to be Dancing in the Dark on Thursday should expect rain and thunderstorms.

Met Éíreann has issued a status yellow thunderstorm warning for Cork from 3pm until 8pm on Thursday. The forecaster says heavy downpours with thunderstorms and hail can be expected.

The potential impacts include spot flooding, hazardous travelling conditions and poor visibility

Despite the threat of rain and thunder, it will be a warm day, with temperatures of 17C to 21C expected. Met Éireann said the howers and any thunderstorms "will tend to die out early tonight".

"Outbreaks of rain will affect parts of Leinster and Munster, but it will be mainly dry elsewhere with a mix of cloud and clear spells."

Umbrellas will not be allowed into the Páirc, so punters are being advised to bring a poncho or rain jacket to shield themselves from the elements.

Meanwhile, ticket holders are being reminded to leave their bags at home where possible. If you need to bring a bag, it must be no larger than A4 size.

Any bags bigger than this will not be permitted and there are no storage facilities available at the venue.

Those attending Thursday’s gig are asked to arrive to the venue at 5pm, when it will open, and assume their seats or position on the pitch by 7pm.

On Saturday, the veteran singer took to the stage in Nowlan Park, Co Kilkenny, shortly after 5pm — two hours before he was due — treating his fans to a special performance during his sound check.

Fans are also being reiminded that queuing earlier in the day is not permitted, while under 14s are not permitted to enter the standing/pitch area and must be accompanied by an adult elsewhere in the venue.

The concert is due to finish at 10.30pm.

Although this tour has not featured as many set changes as previous tours, The Boss and his band are still fond of a shake-up to keep fans alert, particularly towards the show’s beginning.

He opened the Kilkenny gig with ‘A Rainy Night in Soho’, paying tribute to his friend Shane MacGowan, who died in November last year.

Ticket holders are required to download the tickets from their Ticketmaster account and save them to their iPhone wallet or Google Pay account.

Screenshots and printouts of digital tickets will not be accepted.

Those concerned about ongoing construction within the Páirc can rest assured, as gardaí said the extensive works which are ongoing around the stadium will wind down for the day.

Gardaí have advised concert goers to be particularly aware of the works around the Marina, around the Atlantic Pond and the Blackrock end of the stadium.

"Please be mindful of how these might affect you when planning your journey to the stadium," a spokesman said.
