Major M50 crash sees huge travel delays and college exams cancelled

A major collision which shut part of the M50 on Friday morning has led to Maynooth University cancelling on-campus exams, among other issues.
The collision, which took place between Junction 7 Lucan and Junction 6 Blanchardstown, caused major delays shortly before 11am.
Gardaí said the delays were expected into the early evening and have urged people to take alternative routes.
All lanes between Junction 7 and Junction 6 are closed, meaning traffic has to reroute off the motorway.
It has had a knock-on effect on other transport services around the capital.
Dublin Airport has urged anyone travelling on Friday to plan their route and check for Garda updates. Furthermore, there is a shortage of taxis at the airport this afternoon.
Dublin Bus says there are "significant" delays to services.
Meanwhile, Dublin City Council's Live Drive traffic service reports there are further delays on the N3, N4 and N7.
As a result of the congestion, Maynooth University has opted to postpone two on-campus exams that were due to take place on Friday.
In a statement on social media, the college explained: "We have taken the decision to cancel the 3.30pm on-campus exams this afternoon (MN155, NG339), due to the unprecedented number of students unable to reach the campus as a result of the closure of the M50."
"We apologise for the inconvenience but thank you for your understanding. This situation is completely outside of our control."

The exams in question have been rescheduled for May 29.
