Met police appeal for information after woman, 22, is found dead in Finsbury Park

A woman who was stabbed to death in a north London park over Christmas has been named by police as Iuliana Tudos.

A murder inquiry is under way after the discovery of the 22-year-old’s body in an outbuilding in Finsbury Park on Wednesday, New Scotland Yard said.

Tudos died as a result of a stab wound to the abdomen and a head injury.

Detectives believe the bar worker may have been killed on Christmas Eve, when she was last seen at 8pm after an evening out with friends. Her next of kin, who are abroad, have been informed.

On Thursday an area of the north-east corner of the park, close to a baseball pitch, was cordoned off as murder detectives investigated how she died.

Tudos’s home in nearby Upper Tollington Park was also searched by police.

A neighbour, Sebastian Jonathan, said: “She was a very nice person … I met her twice when she came over for beers when we had barbecues last summer.

“The police refused to give me any information. I had to Google it to see that she was the one found in the park.”

Tudos, who also called herself Julie, was from Moscow and worked at the World’s End pub in Camden, according to her Facebook page and neighbours.

She was 5ft 1in (1.55 metres) tall with a slim build and was last seen in Camden Road. She was wearing a black and red hooded top with “Agnostic Front” – the name of a US punk band – on it, with light coloured jeans and black and white Vans shoes.

Police said she was wearing glasses and was carrying a black and white fabric bag with “Fighting Against Animal Testing” printed on it.

No arrests have been made in connection with the murder and the scene remained cordoned off as police continued their investigation on Thursday.

A member of the public found her body shortly before 4.30pm on Wednesday, police said.

DCI Nicola Wall appealed for anyone with information to tell police.

DCI Nicola Wall, from the homicide and major crime command, who is leading the investigation, appealed to the public to come forward with any information that could help officers.

“Iuliana’s body was discovered in an outbuilding next to a sports pitch. We believe that she may have been attacked on Saturday 24 December – Christmas Eve – but we want to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in that part of Finsbury Park over the Christmas period,” she said.

“We are still trying to piece together a timeline of events and are pursuing a number of lines of inquiry as regards to a motive.”

A postmortem was due to be conducted at Haringey mortuary, with a result expected by Friday.

Anyone with information is asked to call the dedicated incident room on 020 8785 8244, tweet @MetCC (Met contact centre) or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
