Kate James strokes son Alfie Evans on the cheek

The story of baby Alfie’s fight for life has made headlines around the world.

Parents Tom Evans and Kate James have pleaded for their son, aged 23 months, to be released from care at Alder Hey children’s hospital in Liverpool.

This would allow them to take Alfie abroad, where he has been offered treatment in several different countries.

Bambino Gesu hospital in Rome even made a military air ambulance available to take him into their care, but this has been rejected.

Tom and Kate’s latest appeal was rejected, with them now running out of options.

A High Court judge ruled in February that Alder Hey could stop applying life-support to Alfie, and that this should be done soon.

This has caused demonstrators to line-up outside the hospital on two separate conditions.

But cops now claim they have seen violent threats made against the hospital.
