Jewell was exposed for making unsubstantiated claims about so-called medicines to treat cancer

Amanda Jewell was exposed by the Sunday Express last year for making unsubstantiated claims about so-called medicines to treat cancer and later fled the country.

Today we can disclose she is living in Mexico and is encouraging desperate British and Irish people to undergo highly controversial treatments.

Several desperately ill people from Britain have travelled there, including a young mother with brain cancer.

Jewell posted pictures of herself on the internet wearing a surgical gown with a female patient on the operating table in the background.

There is also a picture of a human breast in a metal dish which has apparently been surgically removed from the woman.

Jewell says although the breast was removed the surgeon was able to save the person’s lymphatic system.

She describes herself as a theatre assistant and says she is also working as a cancer researcher at the Flower of Health clinic at Puerto Vallarta on the Mexican coast.

Campaigner Fiona O’Leary, who has been trying to stop her from treating patients with dubious remedies, said: “It is sickening to see this woman working at a clinic in Mexico. She shows contempt for the authorities in this country.

“When the Sunday Express exposed her, the authorities had their chance to stop her but they let her slip out of the country. It is shameful.”

Last year we revealed Jewell was living with her husband Doug at a large rented house in Farnham, Surrey, which was raided by trading standards officers.

She later moved to Sussex where other trading standards officers investigated her. A spokesman for East Sussex Trading Standards said: “We were aware for a period of time that Amanda Jewell was based in East Sussex and initiated an investigation with regard to her cancer healing claims. Ms Jewell is no longer based in East Sussex.

“We now believe her to be operating from Mexico. As such we are unable to take any further action although we have been liaising with the Medical and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency regarding Ms Jewell’s current location.”

A spokesman for the agency said: “Unless medicines have been assessed for quality, efficacy and safety, you should not use them without proper medical advice.

“To protect your health, you should seek treatment from a qualified healthcare professional. Visit your GP if you need treatment, and obtain prescription and pharmacy medicines from a legitimate high street pharmacy or online pharmacy.”

The patients are offered intravenous GcMAF, which is not approved for treatment in the UK

At the clinic patients are offered ozone therapy, magnetic therapy and intravenous GcMAF, a substance which is not approved for treatment in the UK. A two week stay for treatment and therapies costs £2,000.

In a blog last March Jewell said she was being threatened by UK trading standards over alleged offences under fraud and cancer legislation.

She responded: “You work for the pharmaceuticals that kill people daily, your organisation stops anyone getting well.”
