A man was brutally attacked in his car by a gang of yobs wearing balaclavas.

The assault took place on Kilbarron Avenue in Kilmore, north Dublin, on Wednesday night.

It is understood that the car the victim was driving was rammed into and smashed up by the gang before they assaulted him.

The victim, in his 30s, was taken to Beaumont Hospital but his injuries are not life-threatening, Dublin Live reports.

A source said: "There were several people involved in the attack. They were all wearing balaclavas.

"It all happened so quickly and was over in a flash, most locals didn't know what was going on."

A Garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating an assault that took place in Kilmore on 7 July 2021 at approximately 8.40pm.

"A number of men are alleged to have assaulted a man during the incident and damage was also caused to the vehicle that he had been driving.

"The man (30s) was taken to Beaumont Hospital for treatment of injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening."

He added: "No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing into the incident."
