Man, 40s stabbed in face in Leixlip Co Kildare in the early hours of the morning as gardai launch investigation

The man, 40s, was reportedly assaulted by a number of people and was taken to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown following the incident

GARDAI are investigating a serious assault and alleged stabbing in the early hours of this morning in Kildare.

It is believed row broke out after midnight on Main Street in Leixlip.

The man, 40s, was reportedly assaulted by a number of people and suffered stab wounds to his face. He was rushed to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown for treatment.

Gardai confirmed they were investigating a serious assault.

A spokesperson said: "Gardaí are investigating a serious assault that occurred on Main St, Leixlip Co Kildare on the 14th May 2019 shortly after midnight.

"A man in his 40s was allegedly assaulted by a number of other persons. The injured party received apparent stab wounds to his face and was taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital.

"No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing."
