Conor McGregor launches vile personal attack against Irish boxing champion Luke Keeler and his two young sons
CONOR McGregor has launched a vile personal attack against an Irish boxing champion, the Irish Sun can reveal.
In a bizarre post, the shamed MMA star also referenced the deaths of Bobby Messett and Paul Kavanagh, both of whom were shot dead in recent years.
McGregor viciously taunted WBO European Champ Luke Keeler and his young sons, before quickly deleting the comment.
The 31-year-old was recently branded a “bully” and slammed for “acting the gangster” by Dubliner Keeler, 32, who called out McGregor for his unprovoked pub assault and thuggish behaviour.
The disgraced UFC fighter — who only this week vowed to mend his ways after his latest disgrace — was responding to a post on Keeler’s Instagram page.
‘Coolhandlukek’ wrote: “I’m up to Number 4 in the WBO World Rankings and close to agreeing World title fight Paddy’s Weekend thanks to @petetaylorboxing and @mtkglobal getting me this far but I’m just getting started and I will go all the way”.
SICKENING COMMENT VANISHED MOMENTS LATER
A message from McGregor’s verified account earlier this week replied: “RIP Bobby Messett and Paul Kavanagh”, before goading the middleweight boxer about his two sons.
The Irish Sun has seen the sickening comment — which vanished moments later — but we are not printing it out of respect for the boxer.
McGregor and Keeler have been linked with a grudge boxing bout after a furious phone call between the pair earlier this month.
Keeler, who is 17-2-1 in his career, revealed his management company were in discussions after the dad-of-two took exception to being called out over a TMZ video.
He revealed on Twitter: “(McGregor) has agreed to fight after a shouting match on phone but doubtful he will.
“It would be quickest way for him to get Irish people’s respect back but respect and class is something he has none of and something money can’t buy.”
Bobby Messett was shot dead while training at Bray Boxing Club in June 2018.
The popular dad-of-three died at the scene after he was blasted at close range. Known as ‘The Muscle’, he was a regular at the gym and also a keen footballer.
Boxing trainer Taylor — who coaches Keeler — was also shot in the incident. In an unconnected shooting incident, Paul Kavanagh was blasted to death as he sat in his car on Church Avenue in Drumcondra, in April 2015.
Kavanagh, 27, was shot dead because he was pocketing money he was collecting for ‘Dapper Don’ Christy Kinahan’s drug empire. The slain gangster was a brother of Gerard ‘Hatchet’ Kavanagh, 44, who was whacked in Spain’s Costa del Sol in 2014.
McGregor was among the mourners at Paul Kavanagh’s funeral as he is friends with his younger brother, Jamie.
Representatives for the Crumlin fighter did not return requests for comment last night.
UFC STAR TARGETS MCGREGOR FOR PUNCH ATTACK
Meanwhile a UFC star wants to fight McGregor for his unprovoked sucker-punch assault. The shamed Crumlin brawler is facing charges after punching an innocent 50-year-old man in a Dublin pub earlier this year.
McGregor recently admitted he was in the wrong and apologised for the assault in the TV interview.
The 31-year-old claimed this week he had been set to take on lightweight fighter Justin Gaethje in July before breaking his hand.
Gaethje, 30, responded yesterday, admitting he hadn’t heard that himself but confirming he would be keen to fight the troubled star.
Asked if McGregor’s comments were true, he shrugged: “That was the first time I heard that. I was training for a fight. He broke his hand early so I think even before it would have come to me, he broke his hand so it never really came together.
“He makes the final decision right now. I’m sure he’s not lying but he did name a lot of names (of potential future opponents).
“It looks like he’s trying to get back into the mix of things so I’m happy about that. I feel like I’ll fight him one day.”
Speaking to TMZ Sports, Gaethje added: “(McGregor) is the biggest superstar in this sport, there’s no doubt about that. He ain’t even fighting and we’re still talking about him so of course I want to f*** him up.
“I see him punch an old man, do I want to punch him for that? F*** yeah, I want to f*** that dude up for s*** like that.”
Asked if he’d lost ny respect for McGregor over his sucker-punch assault shame, Gaethje laughed: “Absolutely. Who didn’t?”
