Here's a first look at the new stand at Tallaght Stadium.

The new stand will hold 2,195 spectators and will bring the stadium capacity to over 8,000.

It is expected to cost €1.9 million to complete, and it will ensure the stadium meets requirements to host Europa League and Champions League group stage games.

The public consultation process has begun on the new stand, and the plans show that it will occupy an area of 1,004 sqm and will be 13.6m high.

It will be built at the south end of the ground, to help alleviate the wind that comes down to the stadium from the Dublin Mountains.

The plans are now open to the public, with submissions about the proposal accepted until December 15.

Future plans are expected to see a fourth stand built at the stadium, which is home to Shamrock Rovers and the women's Republic of Ireland team.

The hope is to attract more football fans as well as concerts and other events.
