The best feature of this walking stick is that it helps me to keep my balance, especially while i walk on the uneven ground of our local park. My canes would restrict me to the asphalt path which needs repair. I very much like the look and feel of the 58" walking stick (I am 5' 11" tall) but I did drill a hole 4" lower than the original strap hole, which is 54" above the ground, to move the strap to 50" above the ground. In retrospect this was probably unnecessary. If the strap holes of sticks are a standard 4" below the top of sticks of all available sizes, the hole of a 55" stick could be 51" above the ground. I doubt anyone would be put off by a 1" difference in hole heights.

But this configuration suits me esthically and is perfect for ambling slowly (maybe at about 1 mph) or striding (to approx 2.5 mph) that I could walk comfortably with this stick. I also like the rough and ready appearance of Hawthorn wood with knots, which are suitable for hand holds where branches were lopped off.
Exactly what I wanted at a price I can afford.

It's a really nice stick. Not sure if I'm lucky or the quality is always this high, but it's an excellent 58" hickory stick. It's really impressive that Amazon can ship this for "free", too. The box it came in alone would have been $100 to ship with USPS if I just walked in with it.

Mine has no cracks, and no filler seems to have been used. It's just sanded with most of the bark left on and lightly varnished. It's actually great as it is, but I plan on doing some carving and putting a spiked/rubber convertible foot on it. It came with a perfectly usable rubber foot, though. I just like the option for a spike.

I don't think you'll find a much better deal in 'traditional' hiking sticks/staves. I've found and bought many over the decades...And after deciding I hate the ski pole style modern ones, I've stuck to mostly found wood. This one is great though. It's already my favorite out of the sticks I've purchased.

Added bonus: The hickory bark has eyes that look like the Eye of Sauron.

This stick has been a faithful companion on many hikes through the Utah wilderness. It does great through the mountains, desert, slot canyons, and just about any terrain I’ve thrown at it. It’s also the perfect length for checking bushes for snakes when navigating some of the most overgrown areas.

I’ll admit, initially I had a hard time justifying buying a “stick” when walk past millions of them, but I could never seem to find the right shape or length.

This is my second Brazos walking stick. I passed my first down to my son and moved to a taller version. My first stick had seen a lot but is still going strong because Brazos finds the best quality wood and crafts with a lot of pride.

100% worth the money and for me, the experience of a walking (hiking) stick over trekking poles cannot be beat.

I love this walking stick… looks really nice but it was too tall for me and I’m 5’7”…. I don’t like having my arm up that high! I know the 48” would be too short…. So, I had my son saw about 4” off the bottom & replace the rubber base. It’s perfect now! I love it! I had a difficult surgery to my knee and femur, so need something to balance myself,….. I can’t use canes for some reason…. Can’t manage them….. But the height of the walking stick is perfect!! Very nice looking…. I’m going to buy some leather to wrap a handle, where I grasp it! It’ll be even better when I do that! I’d recommend these walking sticks, for sure!!😊

Mine arrived a bit more crooked than in the pictures, but it's a fantastic walker. It has even grown on me, and now I like it more than some "perfect" stick. Very happy with it. It also seems to get more compliments and people aren't as intimidated by it. I'm a big guy, and walking with an Irish Blackthorn stick I look like some kind of thug, I guess. I have had people give me scared eyes... but with this stick I just look like a harmless hiker dude or something. Deceptively strong and capable stick.
